Kids always make events more interesting and this especially applies to weddings. They add a certain aura of good fortune and fruitful future and make the family links stronger. The way kids celebrate a wedding is quite unique in that they often do things the adults wouldn’t normally do. Kids add a new dimension to the entire celebration and make it more joyous and playful. Many couples, knowing that children will attend their wedding, add toys and other things for them to play during the reception. It is always a good idea to provide your youngest guests with some form of entertainment. This will only enhance your wedding experience, but also add some variety to your wedding photography.

This is a view of what I consider a proper wedding catering service. I mean this is exactly the kind of a friendly smile and a cheerful disposition that you would want to see during your wedding reception. Not to mention the constatnt flow of wine and/or champagne! A big part of your wedding experience is based around people who provide you with a service, that is why hiring the right people is crucial if you want things to go smoothly at your wedding.

I noticed these wine bottles placed on an antique chair by one of the waitresses. She put them there for a moment as she needed a free hand to open the doors to the reception room. As soon as she put those bottles on the chair I jumped over with camera to take a snap. During a wedding I’m always on the lookout for unusual position and compositions of objects, as well as people for that matter. I have increased the hue, saturation, and contrasts in post processing. I like the variation and the combination of colours in this photo and that there is a certain mood created which makes this image more interesting.

The Bride With Her Father

I think the moment the bride walks into the church with her father by the arm is a very special and significant moment for both parties. Some brides prefer to have have their father walk them down the aisle only halfway and then continue to walk by themselves. Traditionally, this symbolizes the bride’s transition from dependence to independence and that she now has a new life with her chosen partner.

St. Michael’s Church, Sutton Bonington

This photo of the front facade of the medieval St. Michael’s Church was taken in May of 2011 in Sutton Bonington. St. Michael’s is situated on Main Street. This is a nice and atmospheric church outside of Nottingham that has some very practical solutions. Exposure corrections were made to give the photo a look of an HDR image.

Bride With Her Bridesmaids

This photo was taken during a reception at Bestwood Lodge Hotel. Atmosphere was very relaxed and the evening was mild and romantic. The bride and guests were having a few drinks outside on a patio. I was taking a few random photos of the guests and noticed that the bride was being kissed by her bridesmaids, so naturally I had to take a few snaps. I turned this photo into black and white, increased contrasts and added a slight vignette.

The Groom With His Father

This photo shows playful relations between the groom and his father as they perfect their appearance just before taking their official father-and-son photo. This shot, however, says a lot more about their caring relationship than the more traditional shot that was about to follow. Contrast were increased and a slight vignette was added to bring compositional focus to the action and characters within the frame.

The Groom With His Mates

This photo shows the groom with his mates and also his band members. I still think that was the most appropriate composition at that time given the nature of their relationship and our surroundings. This shot was exposed for their faces without the use of a flash so naturally the bright sky was blown out which gave the photo a more expressive feel. Contrasts and colour saturation were increased in post processing.

Good Friends Having a Laugh

This photo was taken during a wedding in Bestwood Park Hotel. Guest were enjoying themselves on a patio and I was quietly capturing those special moments. When I look at this photo it just makes me feel good because they were all having such wonderful time goofing around. I turned this into black and white to make it look more authentic and situational. I like the depth of field in this picture and the composition within those focal planes. Contrasts were increased and curves changed slightly to get deeper black levels.
