Church of England Wedding

If one of you lives in the parish and is on the electoral roll, you should be able to marry in your local church. Some ministers require that you attend church regularly, but most of them don’t check. The public announcement of your intention to marry – the banns – will be read out in church on three consecutive Sundays, following wich the couple is obligated to marry within the next three months. If one of you lives in a different parish the banns must also be read there. If the church you want to marry in is outside of your parish and you are not on the electoral roll, you will need to apply to the Archbishop of Canterbury for a special licence. On your application form it will be requested that you provide a proof of your connection to the parish in question. Costs of marriage in a Church of England can vary depending on whether you request a choir, a soloist, or bell ringing, but usually with all of the certificates run into few hundreds.
