If one or other of the divorced parents has since remarried usually the custom dictates that the new spouse should be invited to the wedding. However, if the new partner was the obvious cause of the parents’ marriage break up then out of respect to the injured party only the real parent should be invited. If this causes resentment you can compensate by inviting that parent and the new partner for dinner and a few drinks soon after the wedding. Remember that this is your big day and it should be planned out in such a manner that would cause no unnecassary friction or tension between the families and guests. The last thing you want at your lovely reception is a fight between the family members.
